This is a hybrid role based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 – in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.
The role
The Financial Market Operations (FMO) team at G-Research is a customer-focused team, responsible for providing services to all middle and back office functions. These functions include trade affirmation and confirmation (including trade break resolution), clearing and settlement, reconciliation and control, market event (such as corp. actions and stock splits) and other post-trade event processing, treasury operations, and project management services.
This role is mainly focused on managing small and large-scale projects cross–functionally; as such, it comes with significant exposure to all aspects of the research, trading and operational processes.
Working closely with the FMO Lead, the Business Analyst will be integral to the delivery of a multi-year reshaping of our Operations platform.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Helping to drive value from the middle and back office operations function, including collaborating across teams within the G-Research ecosystem to understand business requirements and help build business cases for the most commercial solution, for example, refactoring workflows, build vs. buy and in-house vs. outsource analysis
- Owning the project management and delivery function including:
- Evaluating and capturing business requirements across all stakeholders, ensuring requirements are complete and accurately captured in project planning
- Producing process flow diagrams and documentation for deliverables, as well as mapping current and future states
- Maintaining Issue Logs, meeting notes, project specifications and updates
- Contributing to and producing quality test strategies and plans, and managing the testing lifecycle
- Working closely with the Head of Operations, key stakeholders, and the wider operational team to ensure that deliverables and timelines are met and that reporting of progress is clear and concise
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience working across middle and back office operations, preferably at a systematic equity hedge fund, with a focus on upgrading existing capabilities and delivering new functionality
- Experience delivering large-scale cross functional operational projects, such as OMS / PMS upgrades, affirmation platform implementation, and reconciliation platform onboarding
- Good understanding of equity, TRS, futures workflows, including the ownership of responsibilities and handoffs between an Operations team and all of its stakeholders, such as execution, treasury, risk and legal
- Good at problem solving and critical analysis with the ability to communicate effectively and confidence to challenge assumptions with a broad range of stakeholders including trading teams, technologists and Operations professionals
- The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise across concurrent projects, whilst moving all elements towards delivery
- Experience evaluating and documenting operational workflows and business process
- A willingness to get involved in subject matter details to help resolve issues support project delivery
- Expert in the use of JIRA (or similar) as a project management tool
- Proficient with Visio or a similar flow-charting application to document workflows, business process and supporting technology
