Technical Analysis 1

20 November 2019 - 18:30

17:30 – 18:30 (Hubble Community Cafe): Time for drinks and food
18:30 – 20:30 (Luna 1.240): Lecture Technical Analysis 1
20:30 – 22:00 (Hubble Community Cafe): Drinks afterward

If we would consider fundamental analysis a means to decide WHAT to invest in, then technical analysis may be considered a means to decide WHEN to invest. In this lecture, Martijn Kors will take you through the basics of technical analysis in a very interactive and approachable manner. With years of active swing and day trading experience under his belt he will help you to get a firm grip on some of the basic, yet powerful, skills and tools known to technical analysis, like plotting resistance and support lines, trend lines, equidistant channels, triangle patterns, moving averages, and the wonderful Fibonacci retracement levels. Instead of overloading you with information, Martijn will provide a hands-on approach in which concepts and techniques are immediately applied on live charts. Bringing a ruler, some pencils, and a laptop with you is highly recommended as Martijn will guide you through all the steps needed to start charting and using TradingView, while providing a simple trading strategy and rules to help you spot good moments to enter the market. As icing on the cake, Martijn will provide you with a custom indicator script for TradingView to help you easily spot whether a market is trending favorably, or not.

Please make sure to sign up for a free TradingView subscription at tradingview.com before attending the lecture.

This is the first in a two-part series of lectures on technical analysis, brought to you by Martijn, Luc, and Surja of the academy committee. The second lecture, taking place next quartile, will build on the first one and will go more into with advanced uses of indicators to help you spot possible market reversals well in advance.
